WHY UNSKOOLED EXISTS.
School teaches you how to pass exams. Nobody teaches you how to live. That is not a criticism of teachers. It is a description of a system with a gap.
THE GAP IS REAL.
The education system in the UK is built around qualifications. That is not a criticism. Qualifications matter. But somewhere between the syllabus and the exam hall, the things that actually shape your life got left out.
Nobody teaches you how to read a payslip. Nobody explains what student debt actually means before you sign up for it. Nobody tells you which GCSEs really matter and which ones barely get checked. Nobody prepares you for your first job interview, your first flat, or the moment you realise the world is not quite how school made it seem.
And it is not an abstract gap. It shows up in the data.
Young people in the UK are struggling in ways that are measurable, documented, and largely preventable. The numbers below are not here to be dramatic. They are here because we think young people deserve to know the truth about the world they are entering.
MENTAL HEALTH.
